INTRODUCING MISS. JADA WALTON

 

QUESTIONS: 

 

Q. Where do you go to school?

A.  Westside HighSchool

Q. Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

A.  My career goal is to be the owner of a bakery. I am taking steps towards that goal I have enrolled in Helms College to receive an associate degree in Applied Science in Culinary Arts starting this fall. As well as I currently create sweet treats for family and friends. My family and friends really encourage and support my sweet creations.

Q. Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A.  My family is very supportive As a kid I constantly stayed in the kitchen with my dad. The women of my family is my backbone. My mom helps me keep things in order and in perspective. My sisters cheer me on as if I was a star quarterback. My grandma is always one call away. My aunt constantly introduceS me to new things and ideas. I couldn’t ask for a better family.

Q. What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

A.  My favorite restaurant is Chick-fil-A.

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A.  I would love to travel to Hawaii. The place looks beautiful.

Q.  What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

 A.  Mrs. Stelter Don’t give up.

Q.  What is your go-to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

A.  I’m really not into bands, but, I do like R&B better.

Q.  If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A.  I would love to have lunch with Serita Parnell. I watch her work all the time she inspires me to go harder.

Q.  What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

A.  My favorite thing about my community is that my community helps me with everything they support me in everything I do.

 

Q.  Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

A.  In 5 years I see myself starting my business.

Q.  What show are you binge-watching right now?

A.  I love watching all Americans.

Q.  Favorite month? holiday? and the best single day on the calendar?

A.  June is my favorite month. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. The best single day for me is June 21st my birthday.

Q.  Who inspires you to be better?

A.  I hate to say it but social media. I say this for 2 reasons you have you haters who dis you and throw shade and then you have complete strangers who compliment you and encourage you. It use to make me sad with my haters but I’ve grown and now I use them as motivation. During the last couple of months as I have really been focusing on my sweets and creating a brand for my sweet treats I have been so amazed by the support of total strangers. They have given me tips on how to be a successful baker, help me financially to purchase items to enhance my skills, and just been straight out kind.

Q.   Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A.  I miss my grandmother and auntie. Time has been hard but I know I’m making them proud.

Q.  What life lessons have you learned through this quarantine experience? 

A.  I learned a lot of things that everyone doesn’t want to see you win.

Q.  What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A.  I want to have a pop-up shop for my business.
