Q: What High School do you attend?
Q. Please tell us about your current plans after high school and what inspired you to choose this path?
A. I plan to attend Aiken Tech for business and management and my Realtors license. What inspired me to choose this path is my ability to do anything I put my mind to. I have received my Nail Tech license from the Aiken Career Center a year ago. I was working in a shop part-time after school and full time on weekends. I’ve always said its not for me to work for anybody else; I want to become a boss and start my own foundation. I want to create something and do things I can be proud of and actually enjoy doing.
Please tell us a little bit about your family. My family is like my backbone. I have two older brothers, my mom and my uncle. There have been many times I wanted to give up but, I feel like they have motivated me and pushed me in so many ways. We are very close and I wouldn’t know what I would do without them.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: My best friend Zipporah, I never thought I could relate to someone as much as I do.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: Bora Bora, ever since I was a little girl I’ve dreamed about traveling there. I feel like it’s so beautiful and seems peaceful. I would love to experience a different culture.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: My favorite movie is the classic Lion King I can watch it all day. Shows I love are Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, and Orange is the New Black.
Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?
A: The best advice I’ve received is from my History teacher Dr. Price; he told me “I can do anything I put my mind to if I just apply myself”.
Q: What is your go-to band/singer when you can’t decide what to listen to?
A: SWV and New Edition.
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: My minister Mr.Ronnie Pernell, he’s more like an uncle I’ve known him my whole life. He helps keep me in line spiritually and always wants to hear what I have planned for my future. I would love to meet at Mi Ranchos for lunch, that is our favorite spot.
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: I come from a small community consisting of Beech Island, Jackson, and New Ellenton, SC. This makes up a small 2AA school Silver Bluff; which has produced many talented and successful people.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: I have my Nail Tech license and eventually plan on having my own business and Realtors license.
Q: What show are you binge-watching right now?
A: Money Heist and Riverdale.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and the best single day on the calendar?
A: My favorite month is February because it’s Black History Month and I enjoy learning about my ancestors. My favorite Holiday is Christmas because it’s mostly when my family unite and show it’s not always about receiving, it’s about love and of course my mom making our favorite dishes. My favorite single day is September 20th, my birthday! This is my favorite because it reminds me of how blessed I am to see another year.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: The main person that inspires me to do better is my mother. She basically raised me and showed me how to become a better me. Everything I have is because of her and she’s helped me through all my rough patches in life. I look up to her and see a strong woman and admire how she faces any obstacles that come her way. She’s the reason why I am a beautiful and smart young woman I am today.
Q: If you could go back over your entire school career, what is one thing you would do differently?
A: I would have taken the initiative to play my favorite sports; volleyball and cheerleading but I didn’t push myself as much as I should have.
Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?
A: My Grandma Diane who passed away on March 16th. She was like a second mother and had me spoiled rotten. She was one of me and my brothers biggest fans. From parties to family dinners and showing up to events my grandma always made sure she showed that special love. Grandmothers can’t be replaced and I wish I would’ve had mine for a longer time. That was a bond that could never be broken. But I know she is looking down on me and is very proud of what I’ve accomplished.
